There is a new neighbor in town! If you know me, you know how much I adore my neighborhood, Little Italy, San Diego. I moved here 7 years ago and still get this cheesy grin on my face whenever I walk through this beautiful little community which has grown so much over the past several years. Tonight a new eatery opened up, unlike any other in the area. In a nutshell, Little Italy Food Hall is our neighborhood’s answer to Point Loma’s Liberty Public Market.

Smaller, but packing a bang, the food court-esque dining hall has a variety of casual, unique bites that are full of flavor. In addition, it’s got a cocktail bar inside and an adorable beer “cart” outside. Yes, I said OUTSIDE! Diners and drinkers are aloud to move about the Piazza della Familglia with spirits in hand! Now if this could just be allowed around the rest of the Little Italy and the Gaslamp, I’d be a happy woman, but I won’t hold my breath.

Busiest of the food stands appeared to be Sam The Cooking Guy’s NOT NOT TACOS, and for good reason. Specializing in tacos full of ingredients typically NOT found in tacos, NOT NOT TACOS takes their namesake to the next level. My boyfriend tried Izzy’s Pastrami taco and Smokey Pork+Mac taco – talk about a party in your mouth! He couldn’t wait long enough for me to get a picture, lol. I went for Wicked! Maine Lobster’s Lobster Mac&Cheese. . . in a bread bowl. Pure Heaven!

The places was packed, and I imagine it will be this way for a while. I can’t wait to go back and try more – maybe a meatloaf taco, maybe a lobster roll? Little Italy Food Hall was the cool, casual dining experience this neighborhood needed!
