The Perfect Picnic

Picnicking in San Diego is one of the easiest, most affordable, and sweet date activities you can do in the summer. For this picnic, my boyfriend and I went just up the street to Balboa Park, and parked it in a shady, breezy spot.

Unfortunately, drinking is not legal in this park, like it is at Kate Sesssions Park in Pacific Beach, but as long as you’re behaving yourself and minding your own business, no one is going to hassle you about it (shhhhh!). Perfect, because my new little picnic basket came with adorable little wine glasses and a wine cork, as well as a cooler compartment on the bottom to keep things chilled! It also comes with 2 sets of cutlery and plates. I pretty much felt like I was having a tea party – an adult tea party! I found the basket on sale (in-store) at Target and couldn’t resist – click on photo below to find it!

Of the many great sandwich shops in San Diego, we went for the classic Mona Lisa Deli subs, located just down the street from us on the corner of India Street and Hawthorne. By far, Mona Lisa has the best Italian sub in San Diego. In addition to the subs, you can grab your drinks, chips, and these romantic little chocolates that are wrapped in Italian love quotes – cosi romantica!

As my photographer, it took some serious convincing to have my boyfriend set up the tripod and actually be in my photos this time, but after a few clicks with the remote, and the rest of the bottle of wine, we had very nice afternoon lounging under the trees. Extra thanks to my beau, Steve!
